Jamie Hechinger co-leads the firm’s Social Impact and Education Sector.  She founded the Social Justice and Philanthropy Practice and led the firm’s launch of the global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Practice. She specializes in high-profile executive searches across civil and human rights, global health and development, advocacy, education access and conservation.  Jamie focuses primarily on CEO searches, working with board search committees and senior management to optimize the succession planning process for CEOs and critical leadership positions. She oversees executive assessments and counsels organizations on governance and board effectiveness through times of transformation, culture change and succession. Jamie brings cross-industry experience, and a deep understanding of movements and social entrepreneurship to her client work. She has significant experience working with families undergoing generational change across family office, philanthropy and family governance.   She has authored and co-authored thought leadership pieces on DEI, philanthropic reform, founder transitions, as well as a study on the psychometric profile of high-performing social impact leaders in the Stanford Social Innovation Review.   Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Jamie served as an Associate Director at Atlantic Media, working across The Atlantic Monthly, National Journal and Government Executive publications.
Jamie holds a BA in English from Duke University and completed an executive education program in Leading Professional Service Firms at Harvard Business School. She serves on the National Building Museum Board of Directors and Sidwell Friends School’s Board of Trustees, where she chairs the Governance Committee.  She previously served on the Duke University Alumni Admissions Committee and DC Public Library Foundation Board of Directors.
