Demand for PR experts is on the rise, but the Great Resignation has made them hard to come by. 

Agencies and corporations are also especially seeking diverse talent and desperate to fill voids in the junior and mid-level ranks, especially when it comes to serving booming industries like healthcare and technology. 

Candidates are being pickier than before, so recruiters are advising agencies how to make themselves more attractive places to work to keep up with demand. 

"The PR agencies I talk to are bursting at the seams with business, but at the same time, are struggling to find enough talent to service it," said Lisa Frank, founder of recruiting firm LBF Strategies. "In all of my years of being in this business, I've never seen anything like this." 

Here are 15 PR in-house and agency recruiters who are essential to finding talent to meet the surge in business.

Kathuria has placed all three Obama White House press secretaries — Robert Gibbs, Josh Earnest, and Jay Carney — in corporate gigs. 

So it's no wonder PR agencies, Fortune 100 corporations, and private equity turn to her for new chief communications officers. 

Since the pandemic, the chief communications officer role has changed to favor execs with strong business acumen who understand regulatory and litigation issues, and such candidates are in short supply, Kathuria said. 

"CEOs are showing up in the first round of interviews," Kathuria said. "They're not waiting to meet the final two candidates. This is one of, if not the most important hire of the year." 

Kathuria co-leads the global corporate affairs practice and is a member of the diversity and inclusion practice.
